The 21-year-old from Dongguan, China, recently diagnosed with right eye retinal artery obstruction after hugging the smartphone to play video games almost non-stop for a long time.
The girl, known as Wu, found herself unable to see anything from her right eye on Oct. 1 while playing her favorite King of Glory game.
Thought I was just tired, girl to lie down but when woke up the next day, her right eye still can not see.
The parents took her to the hospital, where the doctors diagnosed the patient with a serious condition - coronary artery obstruction. The condition usually occurs in the elderly, but doctors say Wu's eyes are depleted by staring at the tiny screen of a smartphone.
Wu confessed to spending too much time playing the phone. Every day, from work, she starts playing without resting her eyes for 7-8 hours. Wu spent most of the day looking at the computer screen, which added to the pressure on the eyes. The holidays were worse, for most of the day she was on the phone and only slept for a few hours.
"The holidays, I get up at 6 o'clock, have breakfast and start playing until 4 o'clock, I'll take a break to eat something and make a short nap, then play again. At 1-2 am, sometimes I do not stop to eat.
The young girl was still in the hospital where the doctors tried to recover her vision, but treatment progressed very slowly. Wu did not feel anything in his right eye even when lighting his eyes.
After the case of Wu spread on social networking last week, eye doctors warned people to use only computers and phones within 30 minutes to an hour, play, watch out to relax the eye muscles and reduce stress.
