At least 28 people died and more than 1,000 people were injured after a strong earthquake of 7.3 magnitude in Kumamoto Prefecture, southern Japan, after the earthquake of 6.4 degrees a day earlier.

Kyushu Island is home to the only nuclear power plant in Japan also is active. So far, no abnormalities reported at nuclear facilities after the earthquake.
